The Feedsack publishes original poetry, along with writing on culture and politics by people who live inside what they write about. Our writers cover the shows, songs, meals, games and local politics that are part of their own lives.
The name comes from the printed cotton sacks that feed and flour were sold in, which rural women sewed into dresses during the Depression and after.
We publish three kinds of writing:
- Culture: TV, movies, music, sports and food.
- Politics: local, wherever our writers live, and national.
- Poetry.
The magazine is edited by Kealie Walker (Culture), Nate Perry (Politics) and John M. Fredericks (Poetry), who is also editor-in-chief.
We’re reading pitches and poems now. If you write about the culture you live in, see our submission guidelines.
